On the scene of the recent cultural events in Romania, an exhibition that brings together artistic attitudes that are not accredited by the use of local memory, but aim at a distinct individualization of creation from a certain point in time, without insisting on geographical coordinates, must be read firstly from a phenomenological point of view. Without occasional anchors, each of the 9 invited artists from Iași prove the existence of distinct creative direction, of personal marks that are easily discernible and cut out a deeply individual context. Taken as a whole, the exhibited works radiate different levels of significance and inner reality, the moments of depth proposed by the artists being closely related to the understanding of art as a process evoking not only talent, but also conceptual and sentimental inner maps.
What are we dealing with in this exhibition? Art … without labels justifying its substance. From spaces that function as scenery for life, which strengthen the impression of an artificially arranged space in which, however, the relationships built are as natural as possible, to nature itself, to moments of intimacy and filters applied to a moment in time, from the ancestral spiritual structures to the biologically mechanized, the metaphor acts to separate the layers of perception.
Regardless of the style, technique, creed, program pursued or designed by the artists, this complex event goes beyond the often obtuse setting of exhibitions that only display the products of a school, emphasizing the unique character, sometimes cosmopolitan or vice versa, revealing its deep local roots. For the knowledgeable art consumer, but also for the curious visitor, this exhibition is a foray into the landscape of art creators in Iasi: Felix AFTENE, Vladlen BABCINEȚCHI, Gabriel CALOIAN, Claudiu CIOBANU, Marinela CIOBANU, Adrian CRÎȘMARU, Rodica CRÎȘMARU, Valentina DRUȚU, Sorin PĂTRĂȘCANU, which is proof of an integrative creation and thinking, spontaneous and yet profoundly personal.
At first glance, there is a particular approach to the image that is based on the ever-changing frames of artistic creation, especially those of contemporary forerunners. Therefore, a series of works seem to represent a real assault on classical representation, without taking a defensive position, explaining why it is or is not elitist, consumerist, relevant or irrelevant art, discreetly questioning the parameters of art.
