From waste to experimental couture is a mini-gallery of accessories and garments made from plant based and sustainable materials. Making an impact on our planet requires realizing that not all trash is waste, and we should view it as a raw material that can be used to (re)design something new and wonderful.
Sustainable fashion calls for the use of organic materials, the recycling of fabrics and the avoidance of environmentally harmful chemicals. At the same time, sustainability in fashion means more responsible buying. Fortunately, many brands have made changes and are producing items that don’t harm nature anymore. Among them is the selection in this exhibition: Muse um concept, REDU, Bizar Concept, HUNA, Common Parts, CYCLEDERROR, BORBALA, ISAI, anacuamic, RAMURI.
So it’s time to fall in love with our closets and to have fun with our sustainable style. From wearing, restyling and repairing the clothes that we already own, swapping and selling the clothes we no longer love or have need for, to actively looking to preferentially buy clothes made with recycled materials, or upcycled fabrics, or more sustainable raw garments, there are many fashion-forward ways to enjoy a closet with a cause.
Together, through creative solutions like the ones you will discover in this gallery, we can help foster a more resilient world, one we can be proud of leaving behind for the next generation – with fresh water to drink and clean air to breathe.
