Lucian Broscățean

Fashion projects are interwoven with cultural references to History of Art and Costume, an essential element being Aby Warburg’s “Bilderatlas Mnemosyne” (1924-1929). The contrast of black and white as non-colours, specific for the traditional attire from the Outskirts of Sibiu, the dark aesthetic of monastic garb, stills from the films of Ingmar Bergman and Yasujiro Ozu – are part of the mood boards, and implicitly of the story behind the clothes. Shapes declined from classic items are hybridized with geometric volumes.

Having an experience of 20 years in the fashion industry, Lucian has won several important awards and has participated at professional events such as: Romanian Fashion Week / Romanian Creative Week Iași, Romanian Design Week Bucharest, TIFF Cluj-Napoca, Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week, International Fashion Showcase at London Fashion Week, MQ Vienna Fashion Week, and so on. Between 2011-2017 he was the Creative Director of irina schrotter brand. Lucian has created Theatre Costumes for three productions directed by Andrei Măjeri and for an Opera directed by Tompa Gabor. From 2008 he has been teaching at UAD’s Fashion Design Department.

Lucian coordinates the IF PLATFORM section at ROMANIAN CREATIVE WEEK. Ioana Ciolacu is the creative consultant of this section.
