DANAGA

Danaga (Daniel Aga) started his musical adventure in high school, as a vocal soloist and guitarist in a rock band, in parallel with classical guitar and piano lessons at the Zalău Folk Art School.

After a break of a few years while attending the Faculty of Philosophy at UBB Cluj, then the Graphic Design department at UAD, he buys his first computer and returns to his old passion: music. Having gone through several forms of artistic expression, he believes that music offers the purest and most direct way to communicate emotions.

In 2009 he participated with Adrian Tudoran and Bogdan Rakolcza in the improvised music show Origin, with Mircea Florian as guest, an event that took place during the official opening of the Paintbrush Factory.

His debut as an electronic music producer was marked by the appearance of two of his own compositions on the compilation Culese din Cartier, released by Subcarpați in 2011, as well as on Buzz RO! 2011 on Local Records.

In 2013 he released his first album, Am n-aripi, a collection of 17 stories about alienated contemporary man trying to find his true self and is available for download at danaga.bandcamp.com. The album has enjoyed a good reception by the public and positive reviews in the online magazines Inspirationist.ro, Sub25 and Vice. Since then, he has released two other albums independently as well as several collaborative EPs with artists from Cluj such as Fluidian (Emil Gherasim) or poet Andrei Doboș.

So far, he has performed on the stages of some important festivals both in the country and abroad, among which we could mention Waha, Green Sounds Bucharest, Untold, Neversea, Electric Castle, Mekittburn (Brussels – Belgium), Midnight Sun (Vaeroy – Norway) along with important names of electronic music such as Silent Strike, Ufe, Rolf, K-lu, Subcarpați, Akua Naru, Guts, Renegades of Jazz, Club des Belugas, Nightmares on Wax, Baba Zula, Chancha via Circuito etc.

From 2013 until now he has composed music for various theatre, performance or contemporary dance shows such as Height Sense with Alexandra Gârbea and Timea Kovacs, Parallel directed by Leta Popescu and Ferencz Sinko, Three Sisters directed by Atilla Balogh (Hungarian State Theatre, Szigligeti in Oradea), MISA Părut, Our Little Centenary and Electronic City (directed by Dragoș Mușoiu) as well as soundtracks for animations, short films and silent films.
