Andrei Cozlac (b. 1986) is a video artist and Lecturer PhD at the George Enescu National University of Arts – Iași, Faculty of Visual Arts, Department of Photography, Video and Computer Image Processing, and associate professor at the media department of the Faculty of Arts in Romanian in Târgu Mureș.
Experimentalist, interested in the latest multimedia technologies, he has collaborated in numerous independent projects of visuals, video-mapping, live projections.
He started his VJ activity in 2005, working in the Drums.ro and DGW crew, having also collaborated with major music festivals in the country and abroad. Andrei signed the video design of some plays directed by directors such as Silviu Purcărete, Radu Afrim, Alexandru Dabija, Charles Muller, Theodor Cristian Popescu, Eugen Jebeleanu, Ioana Păun, Octavian Jighirgiu, Florin Caracala, etc. He made numerous interactive and non-interactive video installations and laid the foundations of the AV // Sattelites project, with which he took to the same stage with artists such as Arms and Sleepers, Sun Gliters, Novac’s Furrow, Yvat, etc.
In 2016 he ranks 3rd in the Light Up international video mapping competition, Iași, and in 2017 returns as a participant in this competition and wins first place.
In 2017 he received the award for video mapping in theatre at the National Comedy Festival, and in 2020 he received the special UNITER award for video mapping in theatre at the UNITER Gala, 30th edition, and in 2021 and 2022 he exhibits with artists Felix Aftene and Lucian Dan Teodorovici in Berlin and Paris. Also in 2021, he received his second U.N.I.T.E.R prize for the creativity of video design and video mapping in the show “The Plowman and Death”, directed by Silviu Purcărete and set designed by Dragos Buhagiar.
