Arantxa Etcheverria (born 1975 in France) is a French artist who lives and works in Bucharest. She studied visual arts at Villa Arson in Nice and set design at the National Theatre in Strasbourg, France. In 2013 she began to develop an artistic practice related to the modernist architecture of her workshop. Whether it is painting, installation or photo and video editing, Arantxa Etcheverria’s works are the result of a meticulous analysis of the geometry of the space.
The architectural forms in her compositions present us with something real, while at the same time giving free rein to the imagination. Suprematist or Constructivist influences are felt in her work, which is the result of meditative reflection, but not of absolute asceticism.
The artist has had solo exhibitions at Victoria Art Center Bucharest, Atelier 35, Bucharest, Creart Gallery and Sector 1 Gallery, Bucharest, Center of Interest, Cluj-Napoca, Baril Gallery, Cluj-Napoca. Her works have been part of numerous group exhibitions, including at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest, Bucharest Museum of Recent Art, Art Encounters Biennial, Timisoara, Club Electro Putere, Craiova, Bucharest Contemporary Art Biennial, Media Art Festival, Arad, Art Safari Bucharest, Museo di Roma, Maison de l ‘International, Grenoble, Romanian Cultural Institute, Vienna and Benetton Foundation, Trieste.
